In the 6 ½ years I’ve lived in Texas, I observed much wildlife. The deer here can be as big as cattle. Armadillos have been rooting up the mulch in my yard the past 6 months, and I have seen these unusual creatures. We have stunning red cardinals who nested and had babies this spring in a large juniper-type bush near our dining room/garden entry. We’ve seen many predator birds and waterfowl, all kinds of lizards, and unique frogs and toads. We have also seen, on occasion, mink. What I have never seen, and saw this week, is a roadrunner.

I was sitting at my desk working and heard a brush against the picture window. I looked over, and there, perched on the outside stone ledge of the window, was an amazing roadrunner, with his proud back feathers that had brushed against the window and alerted me to its presence.

I wondered how many feathers were in the tail? 6 long, lovely feathers that give the bird an air of elegance and efficiency. The head has an informal crown. I was curious what traits and meanings come with the spirit presence of this rare bird.

It is seen as a guide, a protector, and a reminder to move swiftly yet wisely.

It denotes adaptability, protection, and the ability to navigate life’s challenges with grace. It is considered a humble bird as well.

What a lovely and beautiful message to receive in a time where I feel God is asking me for total trust in the continuation of challenges presenting themselves for me to soon address.
