The adoption process is a long and stressful journey to parenthood. Most folks don’t know that 27% of adoptions fail. There are many factors for the failure. Birth mothers or adoptive parents changing their minds, is the main reason for this, and it can be devastating to lose a little one who has been long awaited and has begun to integrate into the family.

I wrote this book for my daughter who was also adopted at birth. I wanted her to know she did everything right, that she was just the best big sis her brother could have hoped for, and that she was both loving and lovable. I wanted her to be able to share her memories and her love with her teachers if she wanted, and, with few words at age two, she could have them read this to her and remember the special days she had being a big sister.

We are now in another adoption opportunity anticipating a little sister joining our family. Prayer and the love and support of others, who maybe can’t fully understand, but can love and give kind words of support helped us through our sorrows. I have decided to share this. I had made it only for my daughter, but I think it is helpful for other families going through loss like this, too, who need to find a way to explain it in a more simple, less pain-filled way to their little ones who are confused and just want mommy to not be so sad any more.
