As I read in scripture about the heart, I learn so much about the heart, and also how the heart intersects with the soul. Getting a handle on being the director of the heart seems vitally important for all future endeavors, as it is majorly impacted by emotions and feelings.
The heart ruled by ego
That thy heart be not puffed up and ye transgress and serve other gods. Due 11:15
The heart that is ruled by lack, fear, stinginess
Thou shalt not burden thy heart, neither should ye close up thine hand. Due 15:6
The heart directing the conceitful ways
“…That in his heart he is not lifted above his brethren, that he departs not from the commandments…” Deuteronomy 17:20… for example, the heart can take us in the direction of conceit, lacking humility, thinking we know best and violating God’s laws as we imagine ourself above or better than others, or invincible.
The heart holding secrets of wrongs, destroying all possibility of true peace
Take heed to thyself that there not be a secret thing in thine heart, an iniquity. Due 15:9
The heart can have a good or poor attitude for giving
And thou shalt not grudge in thy heart as thou givest to him… Deuteronomy 15:16
The Ruler of the heart can be the Lord
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” – Colossians 3:15
