Story
This chant was enjoyed daily at the Vishwa Shanti Indian Ashram bringing happiness and peace of mind to all the devotees and visitors to the ashram. It is a mantra that brings happiness, and stimulates wisdom.
It was a magical day in the ashram. The day to honor lord Panduranga, considered an incarnation of lord Krishna and said to be the god of white light. Today we did Abhinshek, the blessing of the 36 foot. We rose early, before sunrise and work together creating a huge fresh flower mala for Lord Panduranga. Preparations for the blessing were underway in the kitchen and in the makeshift outdoor kitchen as thousands of celebrants would be fed and receive the blessings of the holiday and presiding deity. I was chosen to be one of those pouring the mixture of milk, honey ghee and sugar over the top of the head of Panduranga. I climbed the long step ladder 36 feet in the air to stand and pour a large stainless steel pot of the nectar. It was exhilarating and joyful to be so front and center as the 1000’s of devotees watched and cheered the blessings of the holy bathing ritual. In this way sacredness is constantly installed into a persons life.
As I reached the bottom of the stairs I was ushered off to the VIP room where I enjoyed a conversation with an elderly gentlemen ~ quite enchanting ~ who I later found out was the minister of health. In his innocent glee he informed me Vishnu was reincarnating now! This was such a sweet experience honoring Panduranga. Each time we honor an aspect of the divine we install our own divinity more deeply into our being.
