Fitbits have now become a controversial topic. A few years ago you could see me wearing a fitbit, as recent as a year ago I purchased an upgrade, but found I could no longer wear it. Wonder why?
Turns out the fitbit is collecting your physical data. I guess you probably knew that right? You might be wearing one to track your steps and physical activities.
What you might not know is the fitbit collects your data and is programmed to report to the authorities when you have a change in your body, sleep or temperature.
Apparently Apple also is amassing a large amount of knowledge about the human body, it is unclear that they are sharing it with anyone, but someday you may be judged by how well your body performed and years of data, not from your medical check ups but from wearing jewelry and holding cell phones will have collected and stored your every move.
I have trashed my fitbit. I want my privacy. Although it is fun to know steps if it comes at this cost I don’t want it. I believe that we all have a right to privacy, I have given no one permission to log my personal data…have you?
