14 Stand firm then, with

1. the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

2. with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

3. 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

4. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

5. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and

6. the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
   Ephesians 6:14-17

And from the Old Testament similar

1. “He put on righteousness like a breastplate, and

2. a helmet of salvation on his head;

3. he put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and

4. wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak,”
   Isaiah 59:17

The definition I pulled up on vengeance:
punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.
“voters are ready to wreak vengeance on all politicians”

So not to harm per se as the popular movie line often goes but rather to take an action that will be a course corrective action to wrong doers or of what they have done to wrong the people.

And on zeal
great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective.
“his zeal for privatization”

Zeal being a force, opposite of apathy, supported by an intention

And of course prayer
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people,”
Ephesians 6:18

And the comment about this – emphasizing the importance of prayer as a key component of spiritual warfare and protection.

Okay so what do we have available to us in spiritual warfare?

1. Belt of Truth

2. Breastplate of Righteousness Old and New Testament

3. Shoes Shod your feet with Gospel of Peace.

4. Shield of Faith, extinguishing all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

5. Helmet of Salvation Old and New Testament

6. Sword of the Spirit, the word of God.

7. Garments of Vengeance

8. Zeal as a cloak

9. Alert – always Praying Old and New Testament

Truth fortifies and strengthens your core; it is God’s will shoring you up giving you the strength you need to move in any direction. The breastplate of righteousness is right action with love as the guide it includes respect and integrity. Having your feet shod with peace, being able to walk through a battle with peace as your foundation.

For the moment I will skip past Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation and Sword of Spirit we will return to this in a future article, and more to number 7 Garments of Vengeance. This speaks to a kind of righteous strength, again referring not to ‘evil payback’ but a strong answer to what harm is being done against truth. Following this with the cloak of zeal, a supernatural energetic movement towards restoration. And what could have been number one, but today we conclude with being alert and in prayer, asking for God’s power to bless your efforts each and every moment.
