Our future pilot is giving instructions to our second flight crew. He was invited into the cockpit and spent 10 minutes with the two lovely pilots flying our plane to Austin.

We met with difficulty as we made our way home. Our cab was in an accident – although we were not harmed.

On our first of two flights – this one heading out of Mexico – no warning, hitting turbulence. I had Henry in the potty and we flew in the air.

I held onto him and braced myself across his body – head and shoulder against a wall and hips against the other wall – while we rode out a terrifying ride.

The steward told us after that I had done perfectly. He said I did everything right and that most people are injured because their instinct is to run back to their seat, but because I followed instructions and I’ve had plenty of safety training, we were able to be completely unharmed.

I tell you – the only thought in my head, other than protect my child, was God help us – because it felt like something really terrifying was happening.

When we got off the plane, numerous people caught up to us through customs and baggage and spoke to us. They said they were all terrified, sitting in their seats buckled in, and couldn’t imagine what it was like riding it out in the potty.

Henry was awarded a Little Heroes award. He got wings, he got a little airplane, he got a color book – and everyone treated him like a hero. He was so scared, but they just all praised him up and down and it was very sweet. Unfortunately, he won’t go in a potty right now. Hopefully this will pass – cause he’s potty trained and we need him to go in the potty – right?

What about Miss Adelia?

She was totally sucked into a movie on my phone and said she didn’t notice – which I can imagine, because sometimes she just disappears into whatever she’s watching on screen. And yeah, I know.
