We looked at this in class this week, I thought you might find this helpful. This is a post from the medical center in Monterey County. Currently the county is considered purple. All restaurants are closed as are most businesses. The county has been sheltering in place for over a month with no end in sight. I think it’s important to look at how this lock down is instilling fear and if in Monterey county if the Covid 19 issue is actually needing this severe lock down or if there are other purposes to the lock down not related to the virus.
Community Hospital COVID-19 data
January 7, 2021
- Total COVID-19 patients in hospital: 43 (this number reflects an increase from a month ago when it was 37)
- COVID-19 patients in ICU: 7 this is the exact same number as last month and it is representing people from 7 towns, since it is the same number I am suspicious these are long term folks who not only have Covid 19, but another illness and since the number has not changed in 4 weeks I wonder are these the same folks from 4 weeks ago?
- Total ICU-level patients (COVID and non-COVID): 17*
- Recovered COVID-19 patients in-house: 21 why are they keeping them if they are recovered???? to make numbers look higher? So this I believe is reflected in the increase above with says 43 in hospital patients. If there are 21 recovered but they are calling them covid the number drops from 43 to 24
- Deaths to date: 46 wonder what the normal flu death rate is? This is for a county of a half million people
*Our ICU has 20 beds; we are converting other areas of the hospital to care for ICU-level patients. This is another strange thing to imply they need more ICU beds because of the pandemic, implying they believe this is a real threat, reassuring the public they are prepared, it makes me wonder what the numbers were the previous years in winter. Also there is a very large senior population in this county.
COVID-19 test results
- Patients tested to date: 21,659 – most are non-positive this is a psych out, many people went in with no symptoms to check if they could be carriers they are calling them patients
- Positive cases to date: 1,231 this is in a county of a half million people over 11 months
Look at the level of fear instilled in the population for so many to have thought to go get tested and the actual data that is driving the severe lock down.
