A few years ago, I stopped using the word good as a descriptive word. There was something not quite right about the word and its use throughout the ages as something to aspire to. So I shifted to a few new words with a higher frequency based on what I was referencing.

First, let’s look at the word good and discover why I’ve been guided not to use it. Good is relative. The word good is related to the person using it, not to the energy of, for example, purity and truth. Second, good is used to create a meme, groupthink. The idea of using good as a measure means an individual who is loving and kind or an evil person can create a measure from which to follow.

If a person with ill intent uses the word good, they seek to establish a directed set of morals based on a value they seek to promote. Our loving parents have trained us to attempt to be good and do the things we should.

Using the simplest notion, our parents told us to be a good girl/boy. This meant striving not to practice too many naughty behaviors. The word good is established early as something to accommodate.

As a possible other notion, rather than the measure of good and bad, a child might grow in wisdom and learn. The vision of choices to strive to know the self, master the reaction of emotions and the impulses that lead to poor choices is an excellent path for a child to know the self and develop into a depth of maturity and understanding.  I haven’t seen this taught in any official way. It is possible that Waldorf (40% true) and Montessori (50% true) are helping develop this mechanism.

Good means to behave in a way the person in authority would be satisfied with. The dynamic of being good leaves out the deeper truth of striving to be more like God.

They say I am a dreamer, blind and cannot see,

That the principles I cling to won’t stand reality

Well, if that’s what I am, Lord, won’t you care for me?

I only want to be like the Man of Galilee

I want to be like; I want to hear like, I want to see like, the Man of Galilee

I want to walk like; I want to talk like, I want to be like the Man of Galilee

Let us intend not to be ‘good.’ Let us agree to be extraordinary. Let us find direction and guidance from God on the path to walk in purity and truth. As we move away from the patriarchal era of suppression, domination, and control, we move into an era of wise elder wisdom.
