Sir Anthony Hopkins and Julie Renee

Sir Anthony Hopkins and Julie Renee

I had the extreme pleasure to meet with Sir Anthony Hopkins in LA recently.  When I posted the photo of Anthony and me on Facebook, I received oodles of responses from the female community.  Turns out Sir Anthony is the object of affection, admiration, and innocent fantasy among my fellow female Facebook devotees.

Several things Anthony said pulled at my heart strings and made me love and appreciate him even more then I already had.

Anthony relayed a story of his young life and the difficulties he experienced in school. He had poor grades, really tried, and struggled to get through.  He was told he would fail in life and never amount to much and yet, Sir Anthony Hopkins is truly one of the most beloved and popular male actors of his age group – or for that matter – any age group.

He spoke of his dream to be an actor and how much he wanted it. He disregarded the predictions of a poor to mediocre life and worked very, very hard to accomplish his dream of being a successful actor.

Anthony is a great example of overcoming great obstacles and making a wondrous life for himself.  Truly, the fulfillment of his goal has literally given great joy and amusement to millions of moviegoers.

I also loved the endearment and the honor he paid as tribute to his dear and beloved wife of nine years, Stella (Arroyave) Hopkins, whom he married on March 3, 2003.  The trouble today is that people are content to let their dreams rest on the shelf. Blaming the economy or the lack of skill and time to implement, our society has lost its luster for fulfilling the American Dream.

How do you get those dreams off the shelf and put your dream life in motion? What I learned From Sir Anthony is common sense and easy to implement.

1.   You have to see it, feel it down to your bones, taste it, want it, and at all cost, go for it.  Overcoming an obstacle means amplifying your talents and putting on the gas!

2.   Take action. Get the training and be seen.  Anthony’s big Break came in his Oscar winning role as Hannibal Lecter in ‘Silence of the Lambs’.  By that time, he had been in action for years fulfilling his life’s passion.

3.   Appreciate what you already have. Be grateful for the things you are given in this life and do not whine about what you think is missing.  Practice being a lady or a gentleman everyday of your life and remember the niceties.
